May 3, 2020, BURLINGTON – Blake Reinhart scored an impressive victory winning the Canadian Sim Racing Series presented by Lacroix Tuning opener Sunday night. The Hamilton, Ontario, racer beat more than 75 competitors to find victory lane.
Fuel mileage played a role in his win, but so did the fact Reinhart ran his fastest lap of the race on the final lap with NASCAR racer Raphael Lessard hot on his heels.
“I wasn’t sure what strategy he (Lessard) was on,” said Reinhart in Victory Lane. “I just kinda hoped for the best. Turns out there was more fuel than I thought. Thanks to my brother for the strategy.”
Lessard was complimentary about his runner-up finish.
“It was an awesome race,” said Lessard. “The guys were really, really fast. Congrats to the winner. I wanted one spot better for sure.
“We had a good strategy, and I think it’s the best strategy we could have done. We were having a hard time putting ourselves in the top five, but we finally got it with strategy.
Rounding out the podium after a green-white-checker finish was Blake’s brother Brock Reinhart who reflected on a great comeback for a top-three finish.
“I don’t think I could have made more mistakes during the race,” he said. “I managed to get myself in the first wreck, and I got an ‘end of the longest line’ penalty which I haven’t done in a long time. The only way we were going to have any sort of track position was to do something stupid, so we tried to save a whole bunch of fuel.”
Both Reinhart brothers carried Storewall Canada on their cars along with Image Factor Design, and the Race Room Calgary.
The first half of the 50-lap iRace saw only one caution period slow the action, but the drivers had trouble stringing together green laps as the race wore on.
The final yellow flag led to a green-white-checker finish with the Reinharts and Lessard finishing in the top three with Ontario racers Michael Moorley and Cayden Lapcevich rounding out the top five.
When the checkered flag flew 31 cars remained on the lead lap. Rounding out the top 10 were Kyle Rochelle, Boyd Hoggan, Felix Gratton, Trent Ringler, and pole-sitter Alex Labbe.
The Right Choice Auto Sales Hard Charger Award went to Hoggan who started 41st after transferring through the last-chance race to finish seventh.
The CSRS presented by Lacroix Tuning visits Charlotte Motor Speedway this Sunday, May 10th, with the stream starting at 9 pm eastern time on GForceTV.net. Learn more about the CSRS by visiting www.CanadianSimRacingSeries.com.

VICTORY LANE QUOTES:
WINNER, BLAKE REINHART:
Turns out there was more fuel in there than I thought. Thanks to my brother for that strategy. I wouldn’t have done that.
I wasn’t sure what strategy he (Lessard) was on, if he had fresher tires or not. I just kinda hoped for the best. Maybe his boss will give me a call. That will be cool.
SECOND PLACE, RAPHAEL LESSARD:
It was an awesome race. The guys were really, really fast. Congrats to the winner. I wanted one spot better for sure. It’s always fun. We had a good strategy, and I think it’s the best strategy we could have done. It paid off at the end. We were having a hard time putting ourselves in the top five, but we finally got it with the strategy. It’s great to start the first race of the championship, and finish with a top three finish.
He did everything he had to do. He was protecting the bottom in the corners. I was trying to back up my corner a little bit and get a better run off the corner. If I could have got right beside him I think I could have won the race. He did everything he had to do to win the race. I just tried everything I could.
THIRD PLACE, BROCK REINHART:
I don’t think I could have made more mistakes during the race. I managed to get myself in the first wreck, and I got myself an end of the longest line penalty which I haven’t done in a long time. The only way we were going to have any sort of track position was to do something stupid, so we tried to save a whole bunch of fuel. I can’t believe it worked out. I’m so happy for my brother.
I gotta say thanks first and foremost to Storewall Canada. Without them we wouldn’t have good looking cars like this. Image Factor Media is on the car as well. The Race Room in Calgary is on the car. Shane – MSD Machine Tool as well.
